Random Musings When I Should Be Doing Other Things

So, it's late--or early, depending on how you look at it. I should be working on about three different assignments right now, but I keep getting so distracted and I think I need to just write (or in this case type) down my thoughts, or at least try to figure out what they are. Not that this is a public diary or something, since I haven't really used it in over three years, which really is a shame.  I love reading people's blogs and while I may not be particularly skilled in writing, it sure is fun to share my thoughts, discoveries, journeys, and victories with people.  It's been a crazy ride at Piedmont, and I wish that I had better documented my experience. All that to say, hello world.  I'm back.

First Monday...

So yeah, obviously, this is my first Monday as an actual college student (you know, taking classes and such) and it was good, especially considering it was a Monday.

I actually got up.  Before my alarm.  I know right? Weird...but I also almost got my hair dry without the breaker exploding again.  I just wasn't patient enough to finish.  The cafeteria has good grits!  At least, they were good this morning.

I am still just so excited about taking music classes again!  I finished my Harmony I homework in less than 30 minutes =) This class shouldn't cause too much stress in the near future.  I have Spanish, too, which is a little tougher, but I still like it.  AND were singing some awesome pieces in Chamber Singers!!  I get to sing the soprano I part sometimes, and that makes me really, really happy.  If only my foot would stop cramping in the middle of rehearsals...

I would also like to add that I came very close to beating a senior at pool...just sayin'. =)

I signed up for an audition time!  Can't wait for South Pacific auditions tomorrow!!

So now this post must also come to an end...sad but true!  Auf Wiedersehen!

Yay!! Internet!!

I've been out for almost a week, yes, but I finally have working internet!  Cables really can be your friends!

Well, let me see...I made some awesome new friends this week who are good, strong Christians.  It encourages me so much to know that there really are people like that out there!  Even if I can totally beat them at air hockey, and occasionally pool. =)  But I guess it's only fair since a certain word (that they happen to know) will make me laugh 2 times out of 2...

The rest of the week was great, too.  I am SO loving having music classes again!!  I get/have to wait to take piano in the spring since I "know too much" for Piano I, but I can't complain much about a lighter workload.

I went home for Kickoff Weekend at Anchor, which was a fun and fulfilling time.  I helped lead the small group for the 9th/10th grade girls, then the 6th grade girls...and I don't remember being that giggly, but I love each and every one of them. =)

So yeah, had another Chamber Singers rehearsal (YAY!!) and an early dinner, since we were all really hungry after said rehearsal.  Later there's a bunch of people playing Ultimate Frisbee, which I will at least go watch...

OH YEAH!!  And I'm auditioning for South Pacific on Tuesday!  SO excited about that, too!  I have my monologue and my song and everything!

And there are some of my highlights since...when did my wifi go out?  Wednesday?  Yeah, I think that's it.

So until (hopefully) tomorrow...

Last Morning before Classes...

Slept in today!!  Until 5 minutes before Jennifer came to head to breakfast...oops!  But we made it...almost in time.  Good thing there's always fruit!

After breakfast I tagged along with Jennifer to the Registrar to submit her Drop/Add form...not even 10:00 (when the office was supposed to open) and there was a nice long line down the hall.  It didn't take long, though.

So now I'm back in the dorm (and getting frustrated with my shift key) needing something to do.  I'm leaning toward going to find a practice room...

There you go, the first almost 2 hours of my morning...now I just have to work on finding someone to sing bass at Open Mic tonight and get ready for classes tomorrow! (AAAHH!!)

Second (or is it third?) Day of Orientation

Okay, since I just (FINALLY) got this working, I'm just going to re-post my Facebook post that sort of inspired me to start this...with a few tweaks...

Chillin' in my way-too-big sweats looking over lyrics for Open Mic and playing with my new blog! =)

NOW to start at the beginning (a very good place to start)...Got a good morning call from the amazing Dr. Mama as I was finishing breakfast.  Went to Camp Y this morning with the music people, the billion business majors, and those open to anything and was eaten several times by a giant spider. Also fell off a log and ran through the woods Mission Impossible-style.

 Noodles for lunch!

Had a music meeting, got measured for Chambers dress (YAY!! =D), played Apples to Apples (with more music people), found a song and a group for Open Mic tomorrow, journeyed to Wally World and looked for songs for auditions with Jennifer (one of the cool music kids), and now I'm bein' lazy...as well as telling everyone who takes the time to read this hurricane of words what I did today. Yeah, I'm exciting. =D

I wanted to keep a journal through at least my freshman year at Piedmont, but for some reason, I decided to make a blog.  That way, I can keep everyone at home a little closer (you know, metaphorically speaking) and it might get really entertaining when I post late at night. =)  I also wanted to share what the LORD teaches me and how He guides me.  So, welcome to my song, and I hope that I can share something that truly makes a difference, as well as give everyone a little piece of my world (it's a cool place, you should stop by sometime).

And by the way, I'm officialy starting tomorrow...
